Description

Leah Cameron is the owner of The Bakery, located on the rotary in Pepperell, Massachusetts. The business recently celebrated its two-year anniversary. During the In Good Company series, she will share her experience of launching and growing a small business in a small-town community, including both the advantages and the challenges inherent in the process.

Leah began baking at a young age, and approximately thirteen years ago her family transitioned to a gluten-free diet. Determined to continue pursuing her passion safely, she immersed herself in learning the science and technique of gluten-free baking. Through extensive experimentation, she developed recipes that allowed her family to enjoy baked goods without compromise.

While living in Missouri, Leah began selling her products at local farmers markets, where the response was overwhelmingly positive. She successfully operated in that environment for three years. After relocating to Massachusetts four years ago, she set out to rebuild and expand the business. The model evolved from a home-based operation to a storefront concept, reflecting both regulatory requirements and a broader vision for growth.

In February 2024, she opened The Bakery — a Celiac-safe, Top 9 allergen-safe bakery designed to provide a trusted and welcoming space for individuals with food allergies and dietary restrictions. At the same time, the bakery’s products are crafted to be enjoyed by all customers, creating an inclusive experience centered on quality, safety, and community.
